LTU FAST

PLAN

21-DAY DANIEL FAST 2015

JANUARY 11—JANUARY 31

by Adelphi Tiffani Cameron

In those days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks. I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.” - Daniel 10:2-3

THE PARTIAL FAST

Daniel’s diet was a partial fast. He ate only certain grains, legumes, and vegetables, a much stricter than most partial fasts. According to scripture, Daniel’s diet permitted no animal products such as meat, milk, and eggs. In essence, this is one form of a strict vegetarian diet (Daniel 1:12, 16).

CONSECRATION FAST

The most serious of all spiritual fasts. The best way to appreciate the consecration fast is to reflect on Jesus’ 40 day fast in the wilderness. He set Himself apart from others and sought God to learn His purpose on earth. Total surrender to God becomes the sole purpose of the consecration fast. After being led by the Holy Spirit into the wilderness to fast, Jesus “returned in the power of the Spirit of Galilee, and news of Him went out through all the surrounding region” (Luke 4:14). The gospels record the works of power that flowed through this yielded vessel, Jesus’ example should encourage us to fast, too.

A STRONGER MINISTRY

The apostle Paul fasted to strengthen his ministry. Many of us follow Paul’s teachings and examples-except when it comes to fasting. That’s when we start making exceptions. Modern Christians have virtually omitted fasting from their lives. Neglecting this spiritual discipline has resulted in the diminished because we fail to follow in obedience. The apostle Paul was a spiritual athlete who recognized the power of fasting to strengthen his ministry. Paul remains the most noteworthy of all soul-winners in history, second only to Christ.

After His consecration fast, Jesus went to the synagogue at Capernaum and announced: The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord —Luke 4:18, 19.

Jesus demonstrated these words by healing all kinds of diseases, casting out devils, and raising the dead. He fulfilled this prophecy from Isaiah, He also promised that “he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father” (John 14:12).

9 REASONS TO FAST UNTO THE LORD

1 — To combine the power of fasting with prayer for more dynamic results.

2 — To become more like Christ.

3 — To make a special request or achieve a specific goal.

4 — To more fully praise, worship, and honor God.

5 — To receive deeper insight and revelation from God.

6 — To better prepare ourselves for serving God.

7 — To more fully open our hearts to the hungry.

8 — To intercede on behalf of the sins and weaknesses of others.

9 — To develop self-discipline and show our commitment to God.

Food Guidlines to 21- Day Daniel Fast

Food Guidelines for a 21-Day Daniel Fast

A “Daniel fast” is based on Daniel 10:2-3, which says that the prophet Daniel spent three weeks mourning and praying for the Jewish people. During this time, the Bible says Daniel “ate no tasty food” and abstained from meat and wine. No detailed list of foods is offered, but we can assume that he kept his diet very simple.

During a Daniel fast, the diet consists mainly of fruits and vegetables. Keep in mind that you

should consume plenty of water. As with all forms of fasting, you may experience headaches, fatigue or irritability because toxins that have been stored in your body will be released. Always consult a doctor before fasting if you have medical conditions such as diabetes or hypoglycemia, or if you are on medication.

Fasting goes a long way in helping the believer keep his balance. Fasting should be God-ordained and God-centered. Fasting promotes spiritual strength and helps us overcome barriers that might over time prevent us from living the victorious Christian life.

Over the 21 days, we will be engaged in THE DANIEL FAST. We will keep it simple as possible because reading packages and trying to cut out everything is almost impossible today.

No meat of any kind including fish.

No sweets (such as cakes, cookies and candy. Don’t worry about what is on food packages)

No strong drink or sodas.

No breads (cornbread, wheat bread, white or muffins, crackers, etc)

We can eat fresh fruits, vegetables of any kind, and drink only water and 100% juice. (21 days).

Yes dressings are ok for salads, eggs and cheese is acceptable and so on. We will not make this harder than it has to be. Plus, it is the devotion time and prayer that is much needed.

Lessen your TV time or idol time as much as possible, to study of the Word and prayer.

from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.

no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

14 “Because he[b] loves me,” says the LORD, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”

Scripture: 2 Thessalonians 1:3
[ Thanksgiving and Prayer ] We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing.

Prayer: Father, in the name of Jesus, we pray for a great birthing of Intercessors in the ministry and sorority.  Today, we pray for the birthing of bold intercessors in the ministry and sorority. We pray that they shall come forth, head first, In Jesus’ name. Amen!

DAY 21

Prayer Focus: Today, we pray for the release of a Spirit of Celebration over the ministry and sorority.

Scripture: Psalm 20:1-5 (NIV)

1 May the LORD answer you when you are in distress;
may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.
2 May he send you help from the sanctuary
and grant you support from Zion.
3 May he remember all your sacrifices
and accept your burnt offerings.[b]
4 May he give you the desire of your heart
and make all your plans succeed.
5 May we shout for joy over your victory
and lift up our banners in the name of our God.

May the LORD grant all your requests.

Prayer: Father, in the name of Jesus, I thank You for a prolonged Spirit of Celebration over the Church and sorority. I pray that you would provoke all of us to celebrate each of us and that all of us will be able to lift up our banners and celebrate in love. I thank you that a Spirit of Celebration that has hit the ministry and sorority will also come to my home, In Jesus’ name. Amen!
